The State of the Franchise…

Yes, I have not written in a while. I just finished watching what I think is enough Jays baseball for one night. A costly throw from Travis Snider brings the Rays within reach of the Jays’ top of the inning 3-run lead, and then a timely 10-foot shot towards first allows Halladay to make an easy out but the tying run simultaneously scores. Mid 4th. The Jays were flying high all May, and then Halladay’s Stanley Cup night injury, started the dive-bomb. More pitching injuries, then shaky call-ups, more Aaron Hill homer magic, and then a Rios trade (Encarnacion is on the DL). Another roller coaster season, except a peak is as high as the team will get. Meanwhile teams that make money, and spend money, and win games, and blowout games (Yankees beating the Sox 20-11 at Fenway anybody?) will look to October. While teams like the Jays, who have all of a sudden made their financial bottom line their Bible - will look to avoid a riot if their Ace is dealt. Rays just took the lead.

Remember these days?
